Chess deserves better than win counts. Trofeo supports Glicko-2 - the modern successor to Elo used by major chess platforms - including proper draw handling and rating reliability that tightens as you play.
Why Glicko-2 instead of Elo for chess?
Glicko-2 extends Elo with a reliability measure (RD): a returning or new player's rating moves quickly while uncertain, then stabilises. It's the approach used by major chess sites.
How are draws handled?
As real results. A draw against a stronger player nudges your rating up; against a weaker one, slightly down - exactly as over-the-board rating systems work.
Can we run a club championship?
Yes - a round-robin over weeks or a knockout in an afternoon, with standings, tie-handling, and a public bracket link for the noticeboard.
How the rating systems behind Chess actually work - explained in plain language, no math degree required.
Each game gets the rating system it deserves - Elo, TrueSkill, or Glicko-2 - all in the same workspace, all posting to the same Slack channel.
