Foosball is a doubles game, and simple win counts can't untangle who's carrying. Trofeo uses TrueSkill - the team-rating system built at Microsoft - so individual skill emerges from team results, whoever you're paired with.
How do ratings work for 2v2 foosball?
Trofeo uses TrueSkill, which rates individuals from team outcomes. Beating a strong pair with a weak partner moves your rating more than stomping beginners with the office champion.
Do we have to play fixed teams?
No - rotate partners freely. TrueSkill is specifically designed to untangle individual skill from changing team compositions.
Can casual players join mid-season?
Yes. New players start with a wide uncertainty band that narrows as they play, so they reach a fair rating within a handful of matches.
How the rating systems behind Foosball actually work - explained in plain language, no math degree required.
Each game gets the rating system it deserves - Elo, TrueSkill, or Glicko-2 - all in the same workspace, all posting to the same Slack channel.
